PURPOSES OF THE SOCIETY

The purposes of the Society are:

(a) to advance issues of common concern to First Nations and Tribal Groups in the Northwest Tribal Treaty Area;

(b) to support individual First Nations or Tribal Groups advancing issues affecting the Northwest Tribal Treaty Area;

(c) to advance and promote a special and leading role for Hereditary Chiefs, Elders and Youth in the activities of the Northwest Tribal Treaty Society;

(d) to advance, promote and revitalize the treaty and reconciliation process;

(e) to develop and implement joint and alternative strategies to ensure that court decisions affirming aboriginal and treaty rights are adhered to in the Northwest Tribal Treaty Area;

(f) to promote and communicate the Northwest Tribal Treaty Society viewpoint in meetings with senior and local governments, the B.C. Summit and the Assembly of First Nations;

(g) To do all such things as are incidental and ancillary to the attainment of the foregoing purposes and the exercise of the powers of the Society.
